Grace, gratitude, patience

The world moves at a fast pace. We are used to the mindset that “time is money” and if you are like me, you fear wasting time. We grow up with ”No dejes para mañana, lo que puedes hacer ahorita.”

We are constantly on the go, always multi-tasking, we have a thousand tabs in our brains running at once, plus the many tabs on our devices to ‘see later’. And our to-do lists are ever growing.

Rarely do we take the time to consciously take a full breath of air in, hold it, and exhale. Rarely do we sit in our reality and really observe how fortunate we are, even if we have to intentionally dig deep and really use a magnifying glass amongst everything that can feel like is going terrible.

Though it does not necessarily mean we are ungrateful, but we do overlook a lot of beauty that is around us. We probably have a home, groceries on the table, our babies have their basic essentials and hopefully a little more. But most importantly, we are here. We are alive and we are able to participate in this ride called life. It is a ride indeed; a scary, delicate, but unique one for sure.

As this year is coming to its conclusion, I am reminded of how fortunate I am to be here. To be in a loving home that we are creating, surrounded by our loved ones, even if they are physically far away. I am reminded that in a couple of days I get to reach another year of life. *Thirty, Flirty, and Thriving*  (as referenced in 13 Going on 30)

These last couple of months have been pretty hectic, but those we meet one way or another, at their divine timing, have reminded me that because we don’t have a script for how to ‘do life’, we take what comes our way and we figure it out. We owe ourselves grace, gratitude, and a lot of patience. We must not lose ourselves or give up in all the chaos. We must learn to focus on what actually is in our hands to influence or direct and work through what is not with the understanding that things will not always work our way.

For now, may our new year be filled with grace for each other and ourselves.

May it be full of gratitude and immense appreciation for who we are striving to be.

And may we treat ourselves with the utmost love, respect, and patience that we treat the person we most love in this world with.
